Joining a multiplayer “Minecraft” server lets you interact with other “Minecraft” fans by cooperating on big builds or engaging in brutal PvP combat. However, Mojang, the creator of “Minecraft,” does not host its own multiplayer servers for the game. In order to join other people playing on a multiplayer server, you’ll need the specific information for that server, as servers are hosted by individual players or paid services.

Open “Minecraft” and let it load to the title screen.

Click the “Multiplayer” button.

Click the “Add Server” button.

Enter the name and IP address of the server. This information is provided to you by the owner of the server.

Click “Done.” You can now log in to the multiplayer server and join other people in-game.

Tips

If you’re a savvy Web user, you can run a “Minecraft” server from your own computer. The official “Minecraft” wiki offers a full guide on getting one set up (link in Resources).
