Water coolers are popular and empty quickly.

Water coolers are often used in the office to make certain that employees have a steady supply of water available. They are also known as the center of workplace conversation and gossip. The most popular type of water cooler is a freestanding unit with a bottle attached to a spout that can supply cold or hot water. Water cooler bottles carry five gallons of water, which makes changing them a heavy and sometimes difficult job.

Instructions

    • 1

Wiggle the empty water bottle and lift up to remove it. Wipe the inner nozzle and rim of the cooler with a damp cloth to ensure it is clean.

    • 2

Wipe the top of the new bottle with the damp cloth as well. If the bottle has been sitting in storage for awhile and looks really dirty from gathering dust, wash the top thoroughly with soap and water.

    • 3

Survey the top of the water bottle. Many water bottles have removable caps to protect the seal underneath. If this is the case, either twist the cap off, or remove the plastic pull tab.

    • 4

Look inside the cooler where the bottle will go. If you see a white plug, you do not need to remove the seal of the water bottle. The white plug will break the seal as you install the new bottle, allowing the water to flow. If there is no plug, you will need to remove the seal completely.

    • 5

Place your dominate fist around the neck of the new bottle and make sure you have a secure grip. Turn the bottle sideways and cradle the other side in your non-dominate arm.

    • 6

Tip the nozzle of the bottle into the reservoir of the cooler. If your bottle has the seal still on it, you can go as slow as you need. Do this process quickly if you had to remove the seal. Allow the water to begin flowing into the reservoir.

    • 7

Shift the bottle until it is in place. You may need to wiggle or turn the bottle to break the seal, but this will normally happen on its own from the impact of weight.

Tips & Warnings

  • Lift from your knees, not from your back.
