How to Use the Martha Stewart Circle Cutter
-
1
Place a sheet of paper on a cutting mat.
-
2
Lay the circle-cutting disk over the paper.
-
-
3
Select a guide hole to use for cutting the circle. The cutting disk has guide holes set 1/16 inch increments spiraling out from the center of the disk. By inserting the cutting tool into one of these holes you can create circles from 1 1/4 inch to 5 7/8 inch in diameter.
-
4
Place the blade of the cutting tool into the selected hole.
-
5
Press the circle-cutting disk firmly onto the paper while rotating the cutting tool clockwise or counter clockwise. Depending on the thickness of the paper, it may require two or three rotations to cut the circle completely.
-
6
Separate the circle from the rest of the paper.
Making Paper Rosettes
-
7
Cut a 12-inch strip of patterned paper that is 1 1/2 inches wide. The width of the finished flower will be twice the original width of the paper.
-
8
Mark the plain side of the paper every half inch along the length of the strip.
-
9
Lineup a ruler across the strip at one of the 1/2 inch marks and run the tip of a bone folder along the ruler to score the paper. Repeat for each mark.
-
10
Fold the strip of paper accordion style along the score marks.
-
11
Bring the ends of the folded paper together and glue or tape them. The result will be a pleated cylinder.
-
12
Cut out two, 2-inch cardstock circles with your circle cutter. These circles will serve as the center of your rosette, so choose complementary or contrasting colors.
-
13
Place glue on the back of one of the circles.
-
14
Press down on the top of the pleated cylinder gently flattening it.
-
15
Press the glued circle into the center of the flattened cylinder and hold until the glue dries.
-
16
Place glue on the back of the other circle and adhere it to the opposite side of the rosette.

Tips & Warnings
Decorate the center of the rosette with beads, jewels, stickers or pom-poms.
If you do not want the flat circle on the front of your rosette, secure the opposite side of the rosette with a circle and place a small drop of hot glue in the center of the rosette on the patterned side.
Experiment with rosette size by cutting longer and/or wider strips of paper.
