How to Set Up a Realistic Sounding Drum Kit in Fruity Loops 9

FL Studio 9 (formerly called FruityLoops) is a digital audio workstation used to create music. Developed by Image-Line, the application allows users to create, edit, mix, record, and master audio. FL Studio 9 includes several virtual instruments for people to use, including a drumkit. Called the FPC, the instrument supports realistic drum sounds for producers to place within their compositions. Setting up a realistic sounding drum kit using FPC requires a few simple steps.

  • Click the Windows logo in the bottom-left portion of the desktop to open the "Start" menu. Click the "All Programs" link and select "FL Studio 9" from the list of installed applications.

  • Click the "Channels" menu in the top left portion of the screen. Select "FPC" from the list of channels to open the FPC virtual drum kit.

  • Press the arrow button on the right side of the "Content Library" section near the top of the FPC virtual instrument. Click the "Downloaded" link in the popup "IL Content Library" window to open the drum kits currently downloaded onto the FPC. FL Studio provides a realistic drumkit to its users for free.

  • Click the "Real" subheader to reveal the preinstalled drumkit. Select "Real Drums 04" to open the realistic drumkit in FPC. Allow a few seconds for each instrument in the kit to load into individual drum pads.
