How to Make Radish Roses. Radish roses (or rosettes) make attractive and tasty garnishes for your fresh food dishes. You can even use them as part of a centerpiece for your table.

Step 1

Clean each radish thoroughly.

Step 2

Cut off the radishes' roots and stems. If you like, you can leave a small, well-formed leaf or two to enhance the rose-like appearance.

Step 3

Make a series of cuts around each radish to form the petals. Cut from root end to stem end. Make a few shallower cuts around the inner part of the radish for more petals.

Step 4

Place the radishes in a container of cold water for at least 15 minutes. The "petals" will open up like roses.

Step 5

Drain the radish roses and use them for a colorful garnish on salads, fresh vegetable trays or other dishes.

Tip

Keep the radishes in their cold water in the refrigerator until you're ready to use them. Stick each radish rose to a lettuce head or other vegetable with a toothpick for a floral centerpiece. You can cover the toothpicks with green onions or other leaves to give the appearance of rose stems.

Warning

Don't try to open the radish rose petals by hand; they will break off.
