How to Delete Your Photobucket Account

By Andrew Tennyson

Photobucket has a dedicated deletion tool designed to let you delete your account. How you use this tool varies slightly depending on whether you’re using a Free or Plus account. You should back up any photos or videos you want to keep before proceeding.

Deleting a Free Account

To delete a free Photobucket account, log in to your account, click the arrow icon located next to your username and select “User Settings.” Select the “Account” tab, scroll down and click the “Delete this account” link located under the Delete Account heading. Enter a reason for the account deletion in the provided field, slide the slider to prove you're a real human and then click “Delete My Account” to finalize the deletion of your account.

Deleting a Plus Account

If you have a Plus account, you must first cancel your Photobucket subscription. If you paid using credit card, email plus@photobucket.com to request manual cancellation of your account. If you paid using PayPal, log in to your PayPal account, click the “Gear” icon in the top-right corner, scroll down and select “Preapproved payments” under the Payment Settings heading. Click your Photobucket subscription on the list of pre-approved payments and then click the “Cancel” link located next to the Status heading. Select “Yes” when prompted to confirm that you want to cancel recurring payments to the selected recipient.

Once you cancel payment, your Photobucket account reverts from Plus to Free. You can then log in to your Photobucket account and delete it as described in the "Deleting A Free Account" section.

Deletion Timeframe and Reactivation

Once you submit your request, it can take up to seven days for your account to be completely deleted. If you change your mind within 48 hours of submitting your request, you can log back in and your account will be automatically reactivated.
