Research your item online. This will help you determine the average price, demand and seller competition for your item. Check Internet sites, such as eBay and Amazon. Many consumers shop on these websites and use them to compare prices. Check the auction end statistics for your item on eBay by researching the completed listings. To do this you must have an eBay account. Simply search for your item and click "Completed Listings" on the left side of the page. Find your item on Amazon and determine the lowest price you must match to compete in the marketplace.
