The civil war pitted the Confederate and the Union States against one another. During this time, the Confederate states created their own currency. A piece of currency from that time could be found in the form of a Confederate 100 Dollar Bill. The piece of currency has no real value today in terms of spending it at a store; however, it can be sold to collectors for variable prices based upon the condition of your specific bill. You can identify a Confederate 100 Dollar Bill in a few simple steps. The Confederate States printed these bills from 1861 to 1864.

1. Look at the bill. Touch the edges with your hands. Creators hand-sheared these bills, producing rough border. If the bill feels very smooth, it may well be a fake.
