How to Cook Meat Pie
Meat pies are made from different kinds of meat like beef, pork, and even venison. During some time periods, like the Medieval or Renaissance periods, a variety of meats were used to create large or hand-held pies. Some families celebrate the Christmas holidays by serving flavorful, spiced treats known as "mincemeat" pies. Once you've prepared your dish, you'll need to bake it to get an evenly-browned, flavorful crust. You can use a store-bought or homemade crust, according to how much time you have for preparation. Things You'll Need
- Baking pan
- Meat pie
- 1 egg
- Small bowl
- Fork or whisk
- Basting brush
- Oven mitts

Preheat the oven to 400 F. Prepare your pie according to the recipe you are using. Place the filled pie pan on a baking sheet.

Break one egg into a small bowl. Beat the egg white and yolk together with a fork or whisk. Brush the surface of the pie with the egg wash. This results in a golden brown crust.

Bake the pie for 8 to 10 minutes, until the crust is nice and brown. Remove the pie promptly when it is done to avoid over-browning.
