Facebook users on the move without Internet access still have the ability to stay updated using Facebook Text Messages. This service allows users to verify a mobile phone, then send and receive status updates, messages and wall posts via text message. How messages texted to Facebook appear on the site is determined by how to message is sent. Facebook has a variety of text-based codes in place to allow users access to a variety of the site's functions.

Instructions

  1. Sign Up

      Sign into your Facebook account.

      Click the "Account" tab in the top right corner and select "Account Settings" from the drop-down list.

      Click the "Mobile" tab at the top of the page.

      Click the "Register for Facebook Text Messages" link.

      Select your country and mobile carrier from the drop-down lists and click the blue "Next" button.

      Text the letter "F" to 32665 (FBOOK) from your mobile phone and wait to receive a confirmation code.

      Enter the confirmation code your receive into the input field provided and click the blue "Next" button to verify your phone.

    Sending Messages

      Text your status updates, just as you wish them to appear on Facebook to 32665 (FBOOK).

      Text "msg" followed by your friend's name then your message to 32665 to message a friend directly. For example, a text message to Facebook of "msg Joe Somebody Hello" would send your friend, Joe Somebody, a private message saying "Hello."

      Text "wall" followed by your friend's name then your message to 32665 to post a message on your friend's wall. For example, a text message to Facebook of "wall Joe Somebody Good luck!" would post "Good luck!" to your friend, Joe Somebody's wall.
