If you have free trial software on your computer and you want to back it up, you can use an external hard drive or flash drive to do so. The process can alleviate a headache if your computer crashes or gets infected with viruses.

      Connect your external hard drive or flash drive to your computer via a USB port. Click the "Start" button and then click on the "Computer" option in the menu. Click on your external hard drive or flash drive's icon from the menu. Leave this window open.

      Click the "Start" button and then click on the "Search" bar. Type the name of the trial software you want to save into the search bar and press the "Enter" button.

      Transfer all of the files from the search window to the external hard drive or flash drive window. A small window will appear with a progress bar telling you how long it will be before the files are transferred.

      Click the "Computer" icon in your "Start" button once the transfer is finished and then right click on the hard drive or flash icon. Click the "Eject" option. Remove the USB cable from the computer's USB port to back up your software.
