How to Format Unallocated Space
Unallocated space is unused and unformatted space on a disk drive. Unallocated space is typically the result of deleting a partition and is unusable until formatted with a file system your operating system can understand. Formatting the free space is fairly simple using the Windows Disk Management utility.

Open the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel." Select "System and Maintenance," then "Administrative Tools."

Double-click "Computer Management." Select "Storage," then "Disk Management."

Right-click the unallocated space and select "New Simple Volume."

Enter a name for the new partition, then enter the desired size. The size must be entered in megabytes. Select the desired file system format.

Click "Next," then "Finish" to format the unallocated space to create the new partition.
