How to Remove a Facebook Friend Nicely
Like real-world friendships, Facebook friendships don't always come without the occasional drama. If you're faced with the decision to remove a friend from your Facebook friend list, without damaging the real friendship, you should take precautions to soften the blow. While there's no gentle way to remove a Facebook friend, you can smooth things over with a quick note, phone cal or in-person discussion of why you must remove her. Once you've prepared your friend, delete her using the same method you would use to delete anyone else.

Sign into your Facebook account.

Navigate to the profile page of the friend you wish to remove from your friend's list.

Click the "Unfriend" link found near the bottom of the left column.

Click the "Remove from Friends" button in the pop-up dialog box that appears.

Tips & Warnings
If you do not wish to delete the person from your friend list, but wish to no longer see status updates from the person, you can use the hide feature. To learn more, visit facebook.com/help/?FAQ=14863.
When you delete a friend on Facebook, you are also removed from her friend list.Though the other person does not receive a notification of their removal from your friend list, she may notice that you are no longer on her list, which will confirm the removal.
