Choose your toga fabric from a fabric store. Some people use sheets to make togas, but they are not the right size and are more expensive than purchasing a few yards of fabric. You can use plain cotton, linen or muslin fabric for a simple toga. If you want something a little fancier, use silk or rayon to create an elegant look.

2
Fold the width of the fabric in half. Wrap the fabric around your waist one and a half times and place a belt around your waist and the fabric. The belt can be hidden when your drape the rest of the fabric, or you can choose a belt that can be seen, such as a gold-braided belt. Additionally, pin the fabric together at your waist with a safety pin. The toga should hang approximately to your knees.

Throw the fabric over one shoulder from behind and pull it toward your waist. Pin the fabric to your waistline with one or more safety pins. Women need to be careful to cover their bust when draping the toga over the shoulder. Wearing a tank top or tube top underneath provides a level of security and modesty to the costume.
