Crochet a simple headband to keep your ears warm.

When it's cold outside and the wind is blowing, you need to cover your ears to prevent frostbite. Hats are always a viable option, but some people don't want to muss up their hair first thing in the morning. Crochet a head warmer in a fuzzy yarn that wraps around your head. If you can do the chain stitch and single crochet, you can finish this project in about an hour. You'll keep your ears warm in a favorite color, but your hairstyle won't be touched.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Make a loop in the end of the strand of yarn. Slip your crochet hook through the loop. Make chain stitches until the chain measures 3 inches long.

    • 2

Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and in every chain until the end of the row. Make one chain stitch, then turn to the other side.

    • 3

Skip the first stitch in the row and single crochet in every stitch in the rest of the row. Chain one and turn.

    • 4

Continue making rows of single crochet until the crocheted piece is long enough to wrap around your head, over your ears. Cut off the yarn from the skein, leaving an 8-inch tail. Pull the tail through the last stitch to secure the knot.

    • 5

Thread a yarn needle with the tail you left on the last row. Match up the first and last rows and stitch them together to create a round band from the length of crocheted rows. Tie a knot at the end of the sewn row and weave the excess yarn through the stitches to hide it.
