How to Activate the Purifier in "Fallout 3"
"Fallout 3" is a post-apocalyptic role-playing videogame that starts off about a teenager searching for his missing father who later holds the fate of the world in his hands. At the end of the game, you are required to activate the purifier of Project Purity to purify the irradiated water in the world. Once you complete the activation, the game finishes and you get to view a personalized ending based on your gameplay.

Load your save game in "Fallout 3."

Play through the game as normal until you reach the end of the final quest, "Take it Back!" Lyons will start a conversation with you, asking who you want to activate the purifier.

Choose who you want to activate the purifier. If you select Lyons, she will enter the room and turn it on, succumbing to the radiation. If you have the "Broken Steel" expansion pack installed, you can order Fawkes, the Sergeant or Charon to activate it for you. Alternatively, you can activate it yourself.

Enter the room behind Lyons and activate your options by pressing "X" on the PS3, "A" on the Xbox 360 or "E" on the PC. You will be given the option to activate the purifier as normal or contaminate it with the FEV vial from a previous quest. Either option will activate the machine.

Tips & Warnings
Activating the purifier yourself gives you 1,000 good karma.
Contaminating the purifier gives you 1,000 bad karma.
