Spiked collars can make a trendy fashion statement for a watchdog or its owner. There are a variety of leather belts and straps you can use to make your own spiked collar. Cone spikes, studs and other inexpensive decorative metal attachments can be found online or in craft and hobby shops.
Create chokers, collars or other fashion accessories that are uniquely yours, with spikes, studs and stars. They'll look good on you and make excellent gifts for your friends.
Things You'll Need

1
Place the leather collar down on your table with the back side facing up. Mark dots on the backside of the collar in the places you want to put spikes. Using a Silver marker to do this makes the dots easier to see. Leave some space to place a gold stud in between the spikes.

2
Rotate the wheel of the leather punch tool to the punch that is the closest match to your screws. Align the punch tip with the mark you made on the collar and squeeze the handle to punch a hole in the collar. Do this at every spot you marked with the marker.

Cone spikes can be attached securely to the collar. Poke the screw from one of the spikes through a hole in the collar. Turn the collar over and thread the spike down onto the screw. Use the screwdriver to make sure the spike is screwed on securely.

Studs can add more appeal to leather goods. Press one gold stud down onto the collar beside the spike to leave indentations in the leather. With the collar down on the table, push the point of the bradawl into each indentation to make holes for the stud.

A bradawl makes adding studs to the collar easier. Push the Gold pyramid stood down onto the collar so that the tabs of stud go through each of the holes you made with the bradawl and push the tabs down towards each other with the needle nosed pliers.

6
Repeat the process, alternating spikes and pyramid studs until you have as many as you want on the collar. Arrange them in whatever manner you like to achieve the look you want.

Tips & Warnings
Use craft glue to attach a piece of silk ribbon or some other material over the screws on the back side of the collar. This will prevent the screws from scratching our rubbing against your skin.
Always use caution whenever you're using shop tools such as leather punches and awls. Keep your hands clear and place the work down on a flat surface when using the bradawl.
