The Singer Sewing Machine 66 Threading Directions
The Singer Company introduced the model 66 sewing machine in 1900. This vintage sewing machine operates by pressing a treadle with your feet to move the needle up and down and stitch on material. Threading the needle on this sewing machine is slightly different than on a new model sewing machine, but still follows the same pattern of threading from right to left and in an up and down pattern.

1
Place a spool of thread on the spool pin on top of the sewing machine.
-
2
Turn the balance wheel on the right toward you until the thread take-up lever is at the top. The thread take-up lever has a hole in it and moves up and down as you turn the balance wheel.
-
-
3
Pull the free end of thread from the spool left horizontally and through the thread guide. Pull the thread down and guide it in between the two tension discs from right to left and through the small wire spring on the left of the discs.
-
4
Guide the thread down and under the thread regulator at the bottom left of the sewing machine.
-
5
Pull the thread straight up and insert it into the hole in the thread take-up lever from right to left. Pull the thread straight down through the thread eyelet below and through the lower wire guide below the thread eyelet at the top of the needle.
-
6
Insert the thread from left to right through the eye of the needle. Pull about 2 inches of thread through the eye, and place it to the rear of the sewing machine.
