How to Crochet a Children's Zipper Vest
Handmade items, such as crocheted blankets, scarves or clothes, can make meaningful gifts. Learning a few basic stitches opens the door to a wide range of craft ideas that can keep your loved ones warm and cozy. Create a zipper vest in a child's size 6 using only basic slip, single and double crochet stitches. Make the vest in a solid color, alternate colors for stripes, or stitch the edging in a contrasting color. The possibilities abound with this vest pattern that works well for both boys and girls.

Tips & Warnings
Use a different color to crochet edging in the arm holes and single crochet around all the other edges for a color contrast.
Try adding button holes and buttons rather than a zipper.
To create a larger-size vest, increase the number of chains for the back panel by four chains for each additional size, and front panels by two chains for each size.
