How to Boost Your Rank on "Call of Duty: Black Ops"

The Call of Duty series takes advantage of the competitive nature of players by emphasizing online play over single player modes. To keep gamers interested, it takes many hours of competitive play to reach the highest rank. Certain tactics, however, make it easier for gamers to climb through the ranks, and earn better perks and weapons.

Instructions

1. Take out a contract in the mercenary, operations and specialist categories to earn more XP and rank up quicker. Contracts are performance-based and help gamers to focus on their skills, making them better in the process. Pick contracts only when you plan to pursue them. If you pick a contract you do not intend to go after immediately, then the contract will end up expiring.

2. Complete challenges to earn more XP. Not only will you earn major amounts of XP, but you also can earn Pro Perks that give you an edge over other players, effectively increasing the amount of kills and XP earned in a match. For instance, completing the three challenges of the Ghost Perk to unlock Ghost Pro, giving you the ability to hide your name from enemy view and hide from enemy air support.

3. Play Hardcore Headquarters with a team of friends. Instead of completing the objective of the game, hold down the HQ and kill enemy players as they attempt to take over the HQ. With the right players and communication, you will be able to earn an enormous amount of kills and, thus, XP to rise quickly through the ranks.

4. Create classes with new and different weapons and perks as you unlock them to find the right one for your style of play. For instance, if you tend to run-and-gun, an assault rifle, like the Famas or Galil, is especially lethal with the Sleight of Hand Perk.
