Use Skype to keep in touch with people through voice and messaging chats.

With Skype, you can use your computer to carry on real-time voice chats with others. You can also set up a three-way instant messaging chat. Instant messaging means you type messages that other participants see on their screens, while a voice chat is like a phone call. Individuals can hold three-way chats with friends and family, while businesses can use Skype for conference calls and instant messaging between employees or customers. Multi-person instant message and voice chats are free when all members of the group have Skype.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to Skype with your username and password.

    • 2

Click the person on your contacts list with whom you'd like to chat. To start an instant message chat, click the blue "Message" button. To start a voice chat, click the green "Call" button labeled with the icon of a telephone.

    • 3

Add a third person to your chat by clicking the grey button labeled with the icon of a group of people and a "+." Your contact list will appear. Click on the contact you want to add to the three-way chat, then click "Add." The third person must answer the call to join the voice chat or must accept the chat request to join an instant message chat. Once the person accepts, he will be added to the three-way call.
