How to Make YouTube Jump to Time When Embedded
When you want to share a YouTube video with an embed code, such as in an entry on your blog or in a comment in a forum, you might want your readers to start playing the video at a specific point instead of at the start. For example, the video is eight minutes long, and the event you want to direct people's attention to occurs at the two-minute mark. You can easily make YouTube jump to a specific time when you embed it.
Instructions
-
-
1
Go to the YouTube website (youtube.com).
-
2
Browse for a video that you want to share.
-
-
3
Click the thumbnail of the YouTube video to start playing it. Pause the video at the point when you want people to start viewing it.
-
4
Click the "Share" button located below the video. The embed code appears in the "Link to This Video" text box.
-
5
Click "Show Options."
-
6
Click the "Start At" check box to select it. The embed code now automatically includes the time when you want the video to start playing. For example, if you want the video to start playing at the two-minute mark, "2m" is added to the end of the embed code.
-
7
Right-click the embed code in the "Link to This Video" text box, and then click "Copy" from the pop-up menu.
-
8
Go to the section of text that you want to put the YouTube embed code into, such as a forum post or a comment in your blog. Right-click at the section in your comment where you want to place the YouTube video embed code, and then click "Paste" from the pop-up menu. When people click the embedded YouTube link, the video will start playing at the point you designated instead of from the start.
