How to Make Dorms in "Sims 2"

"The Sims 2: University" expansion pack allows players to give their Sims the experience of college life, including sororities, fraternities, secret societies and dorms. While you can create houses for your Sims just like in previous versions of the game, you may find yourself wanting to create custom residences for your college bound Sims. Using the normal method of constructing a home with a few modifications, you can give your university a one of a kind dorm.

Instructions

1. Create a large residential lot, then enter the lot in "Build/Buy" mode.

2. Create the dorm building. Be sure to make separate rooms with doors, and multiple restrooms on each floor.

3. Buy and place the appropriate amenities in each room or on each floor. Sims will need a stove, refrigerator, some form of entertainment and a bed to stay healthy and happy, just like in a regular Sims home.

4. Open the text console at the top of the screen by pressing "Control," "Shift" and "C" on a Windows PC or "Command," "Shift" and "C" on a Mac.

5. Click inside the blue console bar at the top of the screen. Type "changeLotZoning dorm" and press "Enter" or "Return." The lot is now set as a dorm.
