How to Post Property to Craigslist

Craigslist represents a network of user-generated classified advertisements that deal with commodities, products and services. Posting a property on Craigslist requires entering relevant data into a user-friendly interface and responding to a confirmation email that allows a user to publish, edit or post the advertisement. Listing categories for properties on Craigslist include "apts/housing for rent," "vacation rentals," "office/commercial," "parking/storage" and "real estate for sale." Although Craigslist requires no fees to post a property listing, postings are limited to one geographic area only. Craigslist allows a user to post multiple listings under separate headings.

Instructions

1. Enter craigslist.org into the Web browser address window and press "Enter." Choose the location where you want to list the property.

2. Click on "post to classifieds." Check the "housing offered" entry and press the "Continue" button.

3. Select the applicable category for the listing from the "choose category" page. For instance, if listing a rental property, select "apts/housing for rent (no shares, roommates or sublets please)" from the category list and press the "Continue" button.

4. Enter the property value in the "Rent:" field. Select the number of bedrooms from the "#BR" drop-down menu. Enter the heading you wish to denote the property in the "Posting Title" field. Enter the location of the property in the "Specific Location" field. Enter your contact email for the posting in the "Reply to" field and confirm it. Enter the description of the property in the "Posting Description" field. Select the visibility level of your email address you wish interested parties to see from the following choices: "show," "hide," or "anonymize (email will show as: [e-mail])."

5. Click the "Add/Edit Images" button if you wish to incorporate visual descriptions of the property and select the applicable file from your documents cache. Enter the name of the street where the property is located in the "Street: (number not necessary field)." Enter the property's nearest cross street in the "Nearest Cross Street" field, followed by the city and state in the "City:" and "State:" fields.

6. Check the appropriate choices concerning the property from the "cats OK," "dogs OK" and "ok for others to contact you about services, products or commercial interests" selections. Press the "Continue" button.

7. Review the listing and, if necessary, click the "Edit Again" button. Otherwise click the "Continue" button.

8. Check your email address listed with the posting and click the appropriate link contained in the email from Craigslist.org to confirm and publish, edit or delete the posting.
