Flash drives are a convenient option for carrying files.

One of the greatest advantages of a PowerPoint presentation is portability. Speakers can save presentations to flash drives, eliminating the need to carry a laptop and also creating a backup. Another advantage of PowerPoint is the ability to add elements like video. A video can go far in grabbing an audience's attention and bringing interest to a presentation.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the flash drive to the computer's USB port. The computer will recognize the flash drive as a removable device.

    • 2

Open the PowerPoint 2007 presentation and navigate to the slide that will include the video.

    • 3

Click the "Insert" tab near the left end of the main ribbon. Click the downward facing arrow under "Movie," located under the Media Clips tab on the right. Choose "Movie from File." A new dialog box will open.

    • 4

Browse to the movie on the computer. Select it, then click "OK." A dialog box will open asking you to choose whether the clip will play when clicked or automatically within the presentation. Click on either to return to the PowerPoint presentation.

    • 5

Use the "Movie Tools" tab in the ribbon to adjust the video settings like volume and looping.

    • 6

Click the "Office Button" located in the top left corner of PowerPoint and choose "Save as" to save the file to the flash drive. A new dialog box will open. Locate the flash drive in the left pane of the dialog box. Click on it, then click "Save."

Locate the video file on the computer. Copy and paste the file onto the flash drive. To run properly, the PowerPoint file and video file must be stored in the same location.
