How to Do the Dragon Boss in Vortex Pinnacle
Altairus is a dragon boss found in "World of Warcraft," in Vortex Pinnacle. Introduced in the expansion "World of Warcraft: Cataclysm," Altairus is the second boss encountered in the instance on both normal and heroic mode. As a storm dragon, his powers center around wind and lightning effects. In addition to using a targeted breath attack, Altairus occasionally shifts the winds, providing a haste increase to players that are upwind of him, and a decrease to those downwind.

Fly to Vortex Pinnacle in Uldum and kill Grand Vizier Ertan, then take the slipstream to reach the second platform. Clear up to the end of Nimbus Rise, and ascend the ramp to face Altairus.

Begin the fight with the tank, pulling Altairus to the center of the platform, turning him away from the group. Spread out to minimize damage taken from the breath and lightning.

Adjust position when the winds shift so that each player is upwind of Altairus with the wind direction traveling from outside the platform, through the players and toward Altairus. Use buffs such as Bloodlust and Heroism once everyone has the Upwind of Altairus buff.

Tips & Warnings
All other haste buffs stack with Upwind of Altairus.
Altairus has a chance to drop Reins of the Drake of the North Wind, a unique flying mount.
On heroic mode, Altairus's platform is filled with cyclones. The player must avoid the cyclones while remaining upwind of Altairus.
Leaving Altairus's platform at any time causes him to emit an overpowered chain lightning that will kill a player instantly.
