How to Use a Handheld SnapSetter

Handheld Snapsetters consist of four elongated oval leaf shaped discs that stack onto each other. The discs have holes where the different snap components are placed. Fabric is sandwiched between the top and bottom of the snap components and the snap components are hammered together into the fabric. SnapSetters come with different sized snap adapter discs that can be interchanged, which eliminates the need to purchase more than one complete set of SnapSetter discs. Use your own handheld SnapSetter to put snaps on clothing and shoulder bags.

Instructions

Take apart the three discs that make up the handheld SnapSetter by pushing in the post located on the left end and lifting off the top and middle discs. Set them aside on your workplace.

    • 2

Insert the pronged decorative metal snap top with the prongs facing up into the round hole at the right end of the oval bottom disc of the SnapSetter. Lay the top piece of the fabric, right or printed side down over the decorative pronged top of the metal snap where it is now sitting in the SnapSetter. Move the fabric so that the prongs are lifting it up from underneath the desired snap location. Place the middle disc back onto the SnapSetter. Maneuver the middle disc so that the round hole at the right end is over where the prongs are pushing the fabric up.

Set the snap top socket, right side up, into the hole of the middle disc. Place the top disc back on. Double check to ensure that all the discs and the snap components are lined up. Hold the left end down with your left hand while you hit the round depression on the right end of the top disc with a hammer and drive the snap socket down onto the snap bottom prongs. Remove the top and middle disc and set them aside. Remove the top fabric.

Insert the open pronged ring snap bottom into the round hole on the bottom disc of the SnapSetter. Lay the bottom fabric, right or print side up, over the pronged open ring of the snap bottom. Move the fabric so that the prongs are pushing it up from underneath in the desired position. Place the middle disc back onto the SnapSetter. Insert the bottom stud into the right side round hole of the middle disc with the flat base of the stud facing down.
