How to Make a Name Out of Your Phone Number
Having your phone number spell something is a wonderful way to help people quickly commit your phone number to memory, and be able to reach you without having to recall the actual numeric sequence each time. But unless you are seeking a custom or vanity number from your phone service provider, it's difficult to make a name out of your phone number.

Here is a standard touch tone keypad. Note how each number except 0 and 1 is assigned three letters. Examine the keypad of your touch tone phone to see if it matches the picture of a standard touch tone phone keypad linked in the Resources section. Write your phone number down and see if any words or partial words immediately jump out at you.

Use a free online tool such as PhoneSpell or PhonePeople (see Resources) to analyze what names your number can spell. Consider names of people and/or common words that your number spells as candidates for the mnemonic name you'll create with your number.

People can now reach you by recalling the name to dial on the keypad. Narrow down candidates to the most memorable. Consult other stakeholders like family members who can be reached at that number or employees of a business to learn what people think of the name you've created.

Tips & Warnings
When making names out of your number, consider if the last four to five letters form most of a word, and consider using the full word as part the name mnemonic you spell with your phone number.
Ensure that any names or words you make out your phone number will have relevance and salience for the people whom you wish to remember your number. Example: If your number contains "4242" and you wish to say "GAGA," ensure the people you're saying it to understand the reference.
