How to Make an ISO Image From a CD Using Nero thumbnail
You can copy an unprotected data disc to an ISO image with Nero Burning ROM.

Image files, such as ISO images, are data files that contain the full contents of a CD, DVD or Blu-ray disc. The Nero Burning ROM program lets you burn files to CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs or burn the files to an ISO image to make your own compilation discs for archiving or burning to a physical disc later. With Nero, you can also copy a physical CD data disc to an ISO image.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the CD you want to convert to an ISO image in the CD/DVD-ROM drive of your computer. Open Nero Burning ROM.

    • 2

Click the "Recorder Selection Menu" and ensure your CD/DVD-ROM drive is listed there. Click "Extras," then "Save Data Track."

    • 3

Click the data track to highlight it. Click "Save Track."

    • 4

Navigate to the location where you want to save the ISO image in the file browser. Enter a name for the image file in the "File Name" text box. Click the "Save As Type" drop-down menu and choose "ISO Image Files(*.iso)." Click "Save." When the ISO image file is created, click "Cancel" to close the window or "Eject" to eject the disc from your CD/DVD-ROM drive.

Tips & Warnings

  • You cannot copy a copy-protected CD to an ISO image with Nero Burning ROM.

  • You cannot make an ISO image of an audio CD with Nero Burning ROM, though you can save audio tracks to MP3, WAV, FLAC, and Ogg formats with the software.
