How to Obey Laws
Laws hold society together. When people obey laws, problems become easily avoided. Laws exist in order to help people live in peace. If you wish to be a good citizen, you should obey the law. Even if you disagree with a law, you need to obey it. You can follow a legally acceptable way to change a law, such as petitioning Congress to modify it. Yet, you cannot simply disregard the law if you disagree with it.

1
Learn the law. Find the relevant law you wish to obey in the laws of your jurisdiction. Go to a local courthouse to request a copy of the law. Alternatively, you can go to a local library and inquire whether they have it. Further, you can find many laws online. To do so, go to a search engine and type in the specific law and the location. For example, "Michigan Trespassing Law." The authoritative source will come from the website of the state.

Clarify any information you don't understand. If you have a question about the law, ask a legislator or police officer to clarify it for you. Don't simply assume you can do whatever you want; rather, err on the side of caution. Wait to take the action you currently question. If you have reason enough to doubt your action conforms to the law, you should inquire before you take that action.
