How to Read PTBs

A file with a .PTB file extension is one that is used by a program called TuxGuitar to store musical information. When you create a tablature of musical notes in the TuxGuitar program, this information is outputted to a .PTB file for storage. You can read any .PTB file on your computer so long as you have the original TuxGuitar program installed on the same machine. Does this Spark an idea?

      Download and install the TuxGuitar software on your computer (if you haven't already). TuxGuitar is available as a free download on the program's website (tuxguitar.com.ar). Click the "Download" link on the site and select the version that matches your operating system. Double-click the downloaded file to install TuxGuitar on your computer.

      Open TuxGuitar via its shortcut icon in the "TuxGuitar" folder of the "Start" menu.

      Click on "File" and "Open."

      Select the .PTB file you want to open and click the "Open" button. The program reads the .PTB file and displays its contents on screen.
