The "Change Hyperlink" window is identical in Excel 2000 and 2003.

You can automatically create a hyperlink to a website in Microsoft Excel 2000 by typing a URL into a cell. You can also create hyperlinks that link to files on your computer, create new Office documents, or reference another location in the workbook. Once you've created a hyperlink, you can edit it by right-clicking the hyperlink and selecting "Edit Hyperlink" in the menu that appears.

Instructions

    • 1

Run the Excel 2000 application and open your XLS workbook file.

    • 2

Right-click the cell that contains the hyperlink that you would like to edit and click "Edit Hyperlink" to open a new window.

    • 3

Change the contents of the "Text to display" box if you would like different text displayed in the cell.

    • 4

Click an icon on the left side of the box to change the type of hyperlink reference. You can hyperlink to a file or Web page, to another location in the active workbook or to a new Office document.

    • 5

Specify a new address, or file that your hyperlink should point to in the center of the window. If you are linking to a file or Web page, then you can either browse to the location or you can type the link directly into the "Address" field.

    • 6

Click the "Remove Link" button if you would like to remove the hyperlink from the cell.

    • 7

Click "OK" to save changes to your hyperlink.
