How Do I Get a Pro Bono Lawyer in South Carolina?
Low income residents of South Carolina may be eligible for free legal aid if their income meets the federally established income requirements. Income is limited to 125 percent of the federal poverty level. South Carolina Legal Services assesses each application and will assign a pro bono attorney once an application is approved. Only civil cases are handled, such as housing, bankruptcy and probate. Private lawyers and the South Carolina Bar Foundation fund the pro bono program.
