How to Set Up a Belkin High-Speed Wireless G-Router

Belkin routers that support the 802.11g wireless standard can transmit data over the airwaves at speeds up to 54 megabits per second with a range of a couple hundred feet, depending on the environment in which the router is installed. Belkin routers are designed for homes and small businesses, and utilize a firmware that allows the router to be installed with little, if any, post-install configuration. You can set up a Belkin high-speed wireless G router to share an Internet connection wirelessly among multiple computers.

Instructions

1. Power off the Internet connection device, such as a cable or DSL modem.

2. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the Internet connection device.

3. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the "Internet" or "WAN" port on the Belkin router.

4. Power on the Internet connection device and wait approximately two minutes for the signal to synchronize.

5. Power on the Belkin router and wait approximately 30 seconds for the router to initialize.

6. Connect wired clients to the Belkin router's "LAN" ports with Ethernet cables. Connect wireless clients to the "Belkin54g" wireless network.
