How to Organize Audiobooks in iTunes
Often when importing an older audiobook from CD, or when downloading from a smaller publisher on the Internet, iTunes does not properly categorize the files as audiobook. Instead iTunes mixed them in with your music files, making them more difficult to find. This keeps you from taking advantage of the benefits that the "Audiobook" category offers, such as auto-bookmarking and shuffle skipping. Reorganize these files into a proper audiobook with a few simple steps.

Select all the individual files that make up the audiobook.

Right-click on the selected files and choose "Get Info."

Click the "Info" tab. You will be presented with a selection of text fields and it is not immediately obvious how they relate to book information. For iTunes to organize the audiobook properly, fill in the information as follows. For "Album," fill in the book's title. For "Artist," fill in the book's author. For "Composer," fill in the book's narrator. For "Genre," type "Audiobook" or "Books and Spoken," depending on your version of iTunes.

Click the "Options" tab and set the Media Kind to "Audiobook."

Click OK. Your book is now listed in the "Books" section in the left-hand menu.

Further organize your book by selecting all of the files for the first chapter. Return to the Get Info menu and enter "Chapter 1" in the "Name" field. Repeat this process for each chapter.
