How to Look Thinner in GIMP

You can only do so much in GIMP.

GIMP is a freeware graphics program that many people are choosing over expensive professional applications like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro. GIMP has the tools you need to perform a number of graphics jobs. One of the most common tasks you might have to do in GIMP is to retouch a face in a photo to make the person look thinner.

Instructions

1. Load the photo that you want to edit onto your computer.

2. Start the GIMP application. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialog, locate and open the photo you loaded.

3. Select "Filters" from the menu and choose "Distorts." From the options, choose "IWarp." In the dialog, adjust the "Deform Radius" to the feature you want to alter, such as the chin. Use the tool to push the feature inward to make the person appear thinner.

4. Continue using the tool in the preview to adjust the features. Save your work.
