How to Make a Boondock Saints Rosary

The 1999 cult movie "The Boondock Saints" tells the story of two Irish brothers who mistakenly kill a couple members of the Mafia. After turning themselves in for the murders, they are released as heroes. The brothers take it upon themselves to continue killing members of the Mafia because they believe it is their calling from God. The FBI investigates the murders only to find that they may be in the right. Making a rosary like the one the movie's brothers wore is somewhat challenging.

Instructions

    • 1

Screw one eyelet screw into the top of one wooden cross. Apply four drops of wood glue to the front of the cross, and place one silver ring on the glue. Adjust the silver ring as needed to make it straight and centered. Attach a small C-clamp tightly to hold the ring in place, and let the glue dry.

    • 2

Cut a leather cord into one 27-inch strand. Tie a barrel knot with 4 inches of slack on the end of the cord.

    • 3

Place beads on the leather cord in a pattern using six oblong wooden beads and then one silver bead. Stop beading when you have 4 inches of slack left in the cord. Tie another barrel knot in the cord. Align both knots side by side. Measure using one thumb's length down, and tie a double barrel knot.

    • 4

Add beads to one of the leather cord strands beginning with a silver bead. Leave 2 inches of slack, and then feed the cord through the eyelet screw. Fold the cord, and tie the final barrel knot.

    • 5

Cut the excess cord, leaving small nubs at each knot. Apply a small coat of clear nail polish to keep the knot from unraveling. Allow the polish to dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • To make the cross more authentic to the movie, use a wood burner to inscribe "Veritas" and "Aequitas" on the back of the cross. The words are Latin for "truth" and "justice."

  • The required materials are available at craft stores.
