How to Eject a CD From a PowerBook G4
The G4 PowerBook features a titanium or aluminum case and slot-loading optical disc drives. When a disc is warped, you may have trouble getting it to eject. A few methods can be used to eject a disc, including one that's exclusive to the first PowerBook G4 model. Troubleshoot and use the disc eject options available on your PowerBook G4 before you contact an Apple service center about a problem with your optical drive.

1
Eject the CD by trying the universal methods on all G4 PowerBooks. Drag a disc to the trashcan icon and the operating system will issue an eject command. If this does not work, press the F12 "Media Eject" key or reboot the PowerBook and hold down the trackpad button as the G4 restarts. The disc should eject if you hold the F12 key down for a few seconds.

Push the "Manual Eject" button on the PowerBook if the disc remains stuck in the drive. On many models of the PowerBook G4, you will find a tiny eject hole on the right side of the optical drive. If your model has this hole, you can use it to manually eject the disc from the drive.

Straighten an ordinary paper clip. Insert the tip of the paper clip into the manual eject hole and depress the button inside the hole. When you feel a little resistance, the emergency button should trip and the disc drive tray should pop out.
