How Do I Change the Favicon in Drupal?
A website's favicon is an icon that loads in the browser address bar when a website is visited. The favicon also appears in the bookmarks menu if someone bookmarks the site. Having a distinctive favicon on your website is important, because the favicon is a logo for your website, helping visitors to identify your site. In a website run with Drupal, the process for changing the favicon is a bit different that usual, due to Drupal's use of themes in styling a website.

1
Design a favicon using your preferred image manipulation program or select an image to use as your favicon. Avoid any small detail in your chosen favicon image, and use a square image, as the image needs to be recognizable when displayed as a 16-by-16 pixel icon.
-
2
Resize the favicon image to 16-by-16 pixels in the image manipulation program. Save it as "favicon.ico," ensuring that it is saved in the ICO format, as this is what identifies the favicon.
