How to List Footer Items Inline

Footer items offer a more comprehensive look at an issue raised in the inline text of a document. These footers cannot only shed light on an issue, they can also point the reader to a reference that contains further information on a topic. If you wish to use footers in your paper, you should add inline references to correspond with the footer item. This will enable the reader to quickly and accurately locate the relevant footer text.

Instructions

    • 1

Compose the footer. Write whatever external information you find relevant to your document into the footer. Place a number that corresponds to the footer before the text begins. For example, write the number "1."

    • 2

Locate the area in your inline document that corresponds to that footer. Go to the exact portion of the document that corresponds to the footer number.

    • 3

Type a "1" in that specific location. Use superscript, meaning that the number appears smaller and elevated in relation to the other text. This points the reader to that footer. Repeat this for all footer items.
