Properly manage email to keep your in-box in control.

Email has become an increasingly valuable tool over the years as software developers have added features to email applications, such as Comcast's email service, that extend its usefulness far beyond the communication link for which it was originally designed. That increasing reliance on email can result in ever-growing "in-boxes" that must be managed properly to prevent missing or accidentally deleted important email. It is easy to inadvertently click on an email and mark it as "read" without actually reading it. Thankfully, it's almost as easy to mark it as "unread" to revisit it later.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to Comcast's online "SmartZone Communications Center" and click on the "Email" link at the top of the page.

    • 2

Select "Inbox" from the "Folders" list on the left-side of the page.

    • 3

Select each "read" email that should be marked as "unread" by clicking in the check-box located to the left of the email. Email that has been selected will be identified by a pale yellow highlight. This step can be skipped when only one email is to be marked as "unread."

    • 4

Right-click on the email that should be marked as "unread," or on any one of the highlighted emails if a group was selected, and then select "Mark As Unread" from the action menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • Unread email in the Comcast SmartZone Communications Center "in-box" is displayed in bold font. When the email is opened, the system marks is as "read" by displaying it in a normal-weight font.
