How to Tag People's Names in Your Status on Facebook
Start a conversation and connect with your friends by tagging their names in your status on Facebook. The tagging feature works for your mutual friends, groups, events, pages, and applications. When you tag people in your status, Facebook notifies them and adds the mention to their Profiles. This lets your friends know that you want them to comment on the status they're tagged in.

Visit your Facebook Home Page or Wall while signed in to your account.

Type a message in the Status update box.

Type the "@" symbol when you're ready to tag someone. Immediately after, type the first letter of the person's name. A menu drops down with a list of matching people. For example, if you type "@B," your friends with names like Bob, Brian or Becky will appear.

Click a name to tag that person.
