Things You'll Need

  • Measuring spoons
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
  • Gallon-sized plastic freezer bag
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp. chopped basil
  • 1 tsp. chopped dill
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 lb. boneless, skinless salmon
  • Broiler pan
  • Aluminum foil
  • Sharp knife
  • 1/4 tsp. chili pepper (optional)

      Pour 2 tbsp. olive oil, 2 tsp. water, 1 tsp. of salt and 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper in a gallon-sized plastic freezer bag. Add 3 cloves chopped garlic and 1 tsp. each chopped fresh basil and dill. Add 1/4 cup granulated sugar to the mixture.

      Place 1 lb. skinless, boneless salmon fillets in the bag. Squeeze out the air and seal the bag. Slosh the mixture around the fish to coat it. Place the marinade in the refrigerator for an hour.

      Cover a broiler pan with foil. Flatten the foil against the pan and use a sharp knife to score along the opening of the pan. Turn on the broiler to the highest setting.

      Remove the salmon fillets from the refrigerator and arrange them on the lined broiler pan.

      Place the pan 4 to 6 inches under the broiler flame. Cook the salmon for 7 to 8 minutes for medium rare, 9 to 10 minutes for medium and 12 minutes for well done.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add 1/4 tsp. chili pepper to the marinade to give your salmon a spicy kick.

  • For better flavor and texture, purchase wild-caught salmon.
