How to Dress as a Pirate for Boys
Turn your boy into a fierce swashbuckler who will want to hunt for buried treasure all day long with your custom-made costume. Some pirate costumes for boys feature button-down shirts, often made from silk. However, with this costume, your little pirate will be able to run and romp thanks to the cotton, button-free material used in this outfit. By giving him his own paper beard, he can reuse it without asking you to paint his beard on before each play session.

1
Cut a paper plate in half across the center. Cut 12 strips that are 1 inch by 4 inch from black construction paper.
-
2
Roll the strips of paper around your finger to form curls. Tape the curls to one side of the halved paper plate, overlapping these as you add curls for the hair of the pirate's beard.

3
Place the paper plate with the flat side at the top beneath the pirate's bottom lip. The corners of the plate should reach toward his ears. Measure a length of yarn to wrap around the back of his head that will reach both corners of the plate. Cut the yarn to that length. Tape the yarn around the back of his head and onto each corner of the paper beard to secure it on his head.

4
Take a men's long-sleeve light-colored T-shirt and put it on your son. Cut the sleeves and collar off a men's red or black short-sleeve T-shirt. Cut the T-shirt from top to bottom straight down the center to make a vest. Place the vest over the long-sleeve T-shirt.
-
5
Trim off the legs of a pair of men's black sweatpants so the length ends right below your son's knees. Cut a zigzagged line across the cut-off pants' legs. Give him a pair of his own black boots to wear.
-
6
Draw over his eyebrows with black eyeliner to give him bushy and thick eyebrows. Sketch a mustache above his upper lip with the black eyeliner.
-
7
Fold a red bandanna into a triangle and wrap the folded section around his forehead. Tie the bandanna at the back of his head to hold it in place.
-
8
Stick a skull and crossbones sticker onto his face or the front side of the bandanna. Rub assorted temporary tattoos, such as those that say "Pirate" or are pirate-themed on his arms.
-
9
Provide a plastic sword to carry.
