How to Get a Shiny Eevee From an Egg in "Platinum"

In "Pokemon Platinum," you have a 1 in 8,192 (.0122%) chance of encountering a Shiny Pokemon in the wilderness. When it comes to breeding and hatching Pokemon, your chance of getting a Shiny Pokemon is the same --- unless you use the Masuda Method. By creating eggs with the perfect combination of Pokemon, you can increase your chances of hatching a Shiny Eevee from 1 in 8,192 to 1 in 2,048, which is an improvement of about 75%.

Instructions

    • 1

Find one Eevee or Ditto from a "Pokemon" game of a different language. For example, if you own the English version, you would get an Eevee or Ditto originally from the Japanese version of "Pokemon Diamond," "Pearl" or "Platinum."

    • 2

Use the Global Trading System to find a foreign Ditto or Eevee. If you cannot find one, buy a foreign version of Pokemon "Diamond," "Pearl" or "Platinum," or trade with a friend who owns a foreign version of the games. Don't use a foreign Pokemon that you obtained from an in-game trade.

    • 3

Breed the foreign Pokemon with a Ditto or Eevee in the Daycare near Solaceon Town. Run or ride your bicycle and talk to the Daycare man every 500 to 1,000 steps you take. Eventually, he will give you an egg.

    • 4

Continue running or riding your bicycle. After about 8,960 steps, the egg will hatch. Whenever an egg hatches, retrieve another one from the Daycare man. Do this until you hatch a Shiny Eevee. You might hatch one after 20 tries, or you might hatch one after 2,000 tries; whether or not you hatch a Shiny Eevee is a matter of chance.
