Chain-link chokers are simple, elegant and popular.

A choker is a type of necklace that sits close to the throat. Chokers have been worn throughout history. Anne Boleyn often wore a pendant with a B on a choker, while Revolution-era French expatriates used to wear red ribbon chokers as a form of silent protest against their country's bloody regime. Instructions

    • 1

Cut a strip of fabric. Make it 1/2 to 2 inches wide and long enough to reach all the way around your neck.

    • 2

Hem the strip of fabric on both long sides with a needle and thread to keep it from fraying. Alternatively, pipe a thin line of hot glue along both long sides of the fabric and allow to dry.

    • 3

Thread each end of the strip into the jaw of a ribbon clasp and carefully pound shut with the mallet. Tug to make sure that the teeth of the clasps are nestled securely into the fabric.

    • 4

Open up two jump rings. These are the little metal rings that came with the ribbon clasps. Hook the rings into the little eyes on the ribbon clasps. Close one of the rings. Thread the lobster claw clasp onto the other one and close it.
