Individually deleting your phone's contacts is tedious and time-consuming.

The BlackBerry 9330 is in the BlackBerry Curve family of phones, and it provides a fair set of features for smartphone users. Like other BlackBerrys, erasing all of the data from your phone is fairly straightforward, but erasing only some of the data, including your address book, requires more planning. Fortunately, with the customization options within the BlackBerry Desktop Software, you can clean out your entire address book without affecting the rest of the data on your phone.

Things You'll Need

  • BlackBerry 9330 USB cord
  • BlackBerry desktop software

Instructions

    • 1

Open the BlackBerry Desktop Software on your PC. Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your screen and begin typing "BlackBerry Desktop Software" in the search box; when you see the program display in the results, click on it.

    • 2

Connect the BlackBerry USB cord from your 9330 to any available USB port on your computer. The BlackBerry Desktop Software will establish a connection in a moment.

    • 3

Click on the "Device" button in the top-left of the BlackBerry Desktop Software.

    • 4

Click "Delete data." This will cause the "Device" menu to display.

    • 5

      Click "Clear Data."

    • 6

Select the option labeled "Selected data" instead of "All data." If you do not choose "Selected data," everything on your phone will be permanently deleted.

    • 7

Check the box beside the address book database. Ensure that the other databases do not have check marks beside them; the software will permanently delete every checked item.

    • 8

Deselect the option labeled "Delete files in your built-in media storage." If you leave this option selected, the BlackBerry Desktop Software will permanently delete all the data on the 9330's microSD card.

    • 9

Deselect the "Back up data before deleting" option. You can leave this option selected if you want, but it's usually unnecessary. This option creates a backup on your computer of your BlackBerry 9330's address book.

    • 10

Click "Delete" to begin deleting your BlackBerry's contacts.

Tips & Warnings

  • If this is the first time you've used the BlackBerry Desktop Software, the program will request you to configure the sync options when you connect the 9330. For the process of deleting your contacts, you can set up the sync options right away or just choose not to sync anything at all. You can change the sync configuration later.

  • You cannot stop the process of deleting your contacts. If you turn your BlackBerry 9330 off, the phone will resume deleting your contacts when you turn it back on.
