How to Log Onto Client From a 2000 Server

Windows operating systems come installed with the Remote Desktop tool, which lets you connect to and manage remote computers. The connection is made via the network. Once Remote Desktop has made the connection, you control the remote computer, have full access to the hard disk and applications, and can even reboot the system. Logging onto a remote client from a Windows 2000 Server--or, indeed, any Windows operating system--can be done with the right know-how.

Instructions

    • 1

Log onto the Windows 2000 Server using an account with rights over the remote computer.

    • 2

Click "Start" and in the "Run" field type "MSTSC." Press "Enter" on your keyboard. The Remote Desktop tool opens.

    • 3

Type the name of the remote client in the "Computer Name" field.

    • 4

Click "Options" to set any options for the connection; for example, if you want to access the remote system's printers, click "Printers" under the "Options" tab.

    • 5

Click "Connect." The Remote Desktop tool connects to the system and gives you access to it.
