How to Send SAT Subject Test Scores After Sending an Application

How to Send SAT Subject Test Scores After Sending an Application thumbnail
Most college applications require official SAT score reports.

The SAT can be an integral part of a college application portfolio. Some colleges request SAT subject tests as well as the standard SAT as part of their admissions criteria. Some students might elect to take the subject test to demonstrate proficiency in a particular subject area. For students who have already submitted a college application and want to submit additional scores or update scores, the process is fairly straightforward. The College Board is the only entity that can submit official score reports, thus all requests for score reports must be routed through The College Board.

Instructions

  1. Request Score Reports

    • 1

Each college is assigned a four digit code, called CEEB, by The College Board. You can find the college codes at The College Board's website, or by asking an admissions representative at the colleges you are interested in. Make your list of colleges and codes to which you want scores sent.

    • 2

Complete the SAT registration forms and include up to four colleges, identified by CEEB code, to receive free score reports. You can update your choices up to nine days after taking the test. You may select additional schools for $10 each (as of May 2011).

    • 3

To send score reports after the registration period has ended, contact The College Board either by logging in to The College Board's website with your "MySAT" account or by phone (866) 756-7346 to make additional score report requests.

When time is of the essence, you can rush a report by following the previous steps and paying an additional $29 fee (as of May 2011) to ensure that your schools receive your reports as quickly as possible. You may also download a form and mail it to The College Board at:

      P.O. Box 8057

      Mount Vernon, IL 62864

Tips & Warnings

  • Not all schools accept rush requests, so be sure to check before paying the extra fee.

  • The College Board provides dates by which score reports will be available after test dates. Use those dates as you plan when to take the subject tests so that they can accompany your application.

  • Although not required, you can contact the admissions offices at the schools to which you have applied to let them know a score report is on its way.
