How to Write a Letter to a Landlord for a Reminder of Renewal Time
If you rent an apartment or a house, then the odds are good that you have a landlord. One of the jobs of the landlord is to let you know when it is time to renew your lease and to provide you with a new lease to sign if you want to stay on the property. However, it can be considered a professional courtesy to write a letter to your landlord as a reminder that it is time to renew your lease and that you would like to continue renting the property.
Instructions

1
Put your name and address at the top of the letter. Include any other tenants who are also on the lease.
-
2
Type the address of the unit or house you are currently renting.
-
-
3
Include the date. Skip a space between the address and the date.
-
4
Skip another space and type the landlord's name.
-
5
Type the landlord's address below the name.
-
6
Greet the landlord by name. Use whatever name you would call the landlord in person, such as "Dear Betty" or "Dear Ms. Parker."
-
7
State right away that you would like to renew your lease. Include the timeframe, such as for the next year, and the date when your new lease would renew.
-
8
Ask your landlord to contact you to set up a time to talk about the new terms for the lease. Include your phone number and best time to call.
-
9
Thank the landlord for taking the time to read the letter and contact you regarding the lease. You may want to ask about favorable renewal terms, a low rent increase or none at all, improvements for your rental unit and problems that she should know about.
-
10
End the letter with "Sincerely," and then type your name and sign it.
